Television...

Kellen has discovered TV, which in this family means PBS.
It is funny, but he will walk up to the TV say "Cs Gs," which means Curious George and then wait for me to try to dial it in.
Luckily PBS plays this show a lot.
It is so cute...
I am not a huge TV person at all. In fact, we didn't have one all summer. But I lost the push to not have a TV because of B's sports.
So we have one now, and the kids like to watch PBS, which I figure is OK for their little brains...
It's funny to see Kellen react to what is happening on TV. He gets it now. He seems to understand and oos and ahhs and says whoa! and wow! while the TV is on.
Aidan is doing great, too, being so grown up. It's sort of amazing how grown up he seems now.
He will be nine in a month...Somehow nine seems like a totally older age...like a turning point...
Well little pookie is grabbing my hand, trying to lead me away, so I'd better go!

Hey Beanie!

Just catching up with your blog. Glad to hear things are going well, and...

Don't sweat the talking thing! We were told to have "E" evaluated at his 18-month because he didn't yet say 20 or so words, though he clearly understood well over 200, and could identify at least that many things by pointing to pictures in a book. He's almost 21 months now, and he now says things like cookie, "Oko" (a character from a show he likes), Bert, Ernie, cheese, Dada, Hi there, kitty, dog, owl, (and the associated sounds from said animals), hug, apple, grape, more, bye, and probably a bunch of others. I doubt if anyone other than me or J would understand him, but there it is. It all happened kind of suddenly, too.

In other words, allow me to reassure you with something that all of my co-workers with children said:

"Your pediatrician is smoking crack. He's fine."

BTW - E love Curous George too - he says something like "Gee-or!" when he comes on.

:)

that was a funny comment "your ped is smoking crack..." i love it.
anyway, TV...what a decision.
i have to say that there is a cultural thing about tv. i am not into it and was not raised with it, but come fourth grade, when all the kids were talking about 8s enough...i wanted to know what that was and who nicholas was!
so i started watching 8s enough one day a week just to be somewhat culturally "in"
so there is that fine line, of being dumbed down and also being culturally up.
ALOHA (OF COURSE none of this matters at this age)
