On Friends, Rashes, and Black Gums (baby's that is)

This week was, well, odd.
You know it's amazing. A person can be surfing along the byways of life and then suddenly in one moment, poof: Everything changes.
We found out we may be moving imminently...or not...Brian is waiting to hear about a job.
As for me, I'm torn.
This is THE JOB of Brian's life. It pays phenomenally. It is in a good place, a bigger city, which I've been wanting. It is closer to my sister. It is perfect.
And yet and yet...
There is this tiny part of me that is holding back, wanting to finish and tie up loose ends...
But I'll follow him. Wherever. Whenever. However. God knows he's followed me enough times.
It should be an interesting couple of weeks as we wait to see what shakes down and out.

Big changes!

Otherwise, I had a great impromptu drink with friends last night; it was great the way those last-minute kind of things are.
It was fun to connect and laugh.
Today we went tree shopping, with me in the back of our little family, voicing my qualms about the Real Tree dilemma.
We decided to buy a live tree in a pot AND a regular tree...
We'll recycle the regular tree...
And plant the other.
And hope the karma comes out even in the wash.
You all know about my hopes of keeping this holiday Green. It's been a challenge; we are surrounded by Un-Green things.

In other news, Kellen has a black and blue gum.
It looks AWFUL.
My colleague said, maybe Kellen is half chow chow dog.
That made me laugh aloud.
The doctor says that sometimes when babies are getting their molars, their gums turn seriously black and blue.
It is HORRID looking and pretty freaky.
We bought some ointment...chamomile based.

And, my bacterial rash came back.
Seriously!
I don't even want to dwell on it. It is not too bad this time.
All I want for Christmas...Well, that's obvious.
* * *
This afternoon was sweet--all of us freezing in the wind, buying our tree, tying it to the car and then driving tentatively home...to our last Christmas in this house. Lots of people are coming, so we are decorating and getting ready and loving every minute of this season with Kellen...who is so vocal it is humorous, this baby who is talking, talking, talking...
Saying things like "blaaa, blaa, boo!"
Happy blaaa, boo, boo to you too!

PS--Thanks Patrick for the tip on the bearings! I can't wait until I can skate again...I am taking a little time off to totally heal my shoulder and adjust to the idea of skating in the sub-zero cold!
