First Birthday--First Sugar High, First Cake, First Warm Celebration with Friends

Well the day came...
the Frosting, friends and pizza winter celebration that was Kellen's first birthday.
Last night, Aidan had a slumber party with his best friends. They made Kellen decorations (posted here), which are so cute. Then we had another placemat that we had people sign today as part of the party.
The kids were fun last night. At one point, I heard Caleb telling Aidan that if people came from monkeys, how could God exist?
Aidan mused that maybe people could have come from monkeys AND there could be a God.
Whoa.
That was pretty amazing.
Today, we had pizza and made CDs as party favors, which I will always do because our friends LOVED getting a CD to take home from the party.
We also had stuffed animals for everyone...
Maria was a busy toddler baby friend for Kellen, and he seemed to love having her and all his guests here...
The highlight for him was cake and ice cream...
Which he smeared all over his face and hair.
He smiled...and smiled at the cake.
After presents, he did crash out and nurse and then cry...It was all just Too Much.
We had a great winter party day with friends and warmth...
It was so special to mark this amazing event, Kellen's first birthday. He is such a cute child, such a happy spirit...We have so much to celebrate.
We are planning to see Aidan's best friends for the next two weekends in a row. As Kira said, the "D" in December stands for "difficult to make it to all the parties."
That is true for us in this month. My grandmother turns 85 on the 29th, so we are going to be spending some time in Mass. with her.
We had to turn down some other family potential plans because of the fullness of this month. Only if you have two December babies and a child with best friends who have December birthdays can you understand. Four out of the five kids here today have December birthdays...
We didn't plan for it to happen this way, but I have to admit that these birthdays just make the season that much more special.
