A Wrench and New Beginnings
Today was one of those breakthrough days with Kellen when you realize that the person you thought couldn't understand you actually does.
We asked Kellen to roll us the ball while we were playing.
Kellen promptly lay himself down on the floor and began rolling around with the ball.
Literally.
He just started rolling over and over.
We all were laughing so hard at this little rolling over child.
Finally we explained that that wasn't how you rolled a BALL.
He got it and had a grand time rolling the ball over to each of us.
Adorable.
Priceless.

So cute!

So last night I tried to repair the new skateboard as the bearing was not working.
It was smooshed, turns out, so the skate shop here put new ones on.
Unfortunately, the new board still feels slow.
But it's a pretty versatile and interesting board, which takes some getting used to.
I think that's a good thing because I was getting bored.
This one is good at carving: really good!
Arbor boards are known for that.
But...
I miss the Gravity. I know that it isn't as "good" as this one, but I liked the ride.
This ride tends to soak up the energy of the surface I'm riding, so if I'm in scruffy pavement, I really feel it.
The Gravity board had better shocks and was just smoother.
I'm thinking now of getting the "Mercedes" of skateboarding, a Vanguard.
They are pricey though: a few hundred.
It's funny because skis and snowboards are so much more money, and skating is FREE so one would think that these prices wouldn't seem too steep.

I learned today that a "quiver" is the name of one's skateboard collection.
Most serious skaters have more than one board; they have a quiver of them.
I'm researching the next board for my quiver.
There are so many choices: boards that are made of foam, crazy SUV boards, electric boards, oversized carvers that look more like go carts...
Wow.
I think I'm going to buy a Vanguard though.
And here is the fun part: I think I'm going to try to put all of the hardware on myself, trucks, bearings, risers, all.
Me and my wrench and my skateboard: who would have thunk it?
