Election Junction--Sanity Restored!

I spent the entire day completely happy today.
Brian and I were at a party last night for the candidate that he was working for...
so the kids were with their grandparents...
We got in late last night and stayed over at the candidate's house.
And...I got to SLEEP in until 10.
Seriously.
It was amazing.
AND...I woke up in a world where the Democrats had won HUGE even if our guys (both the people we were working for) lost.
While that was disappointing, I felt rejuventated and relieved.
Finally, finally, it felt as if the nightmare was ending.
It has been a long nightmare, one where we started losing rights and then the Repubs started doing things like making torture legal.
I found all of that pretty terrifying.
I think I speak for a lot of Dems when I say that we all want to take measures to stop terrorism like securing our borders.
But torturing people: That just doesn't protect anyone.
Now I think we will see sanity begin to be restored.
I think we will see a move AWAY from people calling Democrats -- and other groups like pacifists and environmentalists--terrorists. I think we will see a move AWAY from torture bills and loss of civil liberties.
And maybe we will even see impeachment or -- at the very least -- some action taken to investigate corruption in Iraq.
Happy Nov. 8 everyone.
This day brings me hope. It is a day that has changed the course of the nation. And that's a relief...
Not only for all of us but for our kids.
