Lost Checks, Gods of Vacation

Well, we had to cancel a trip to Montreal today--a romantic get-away because of a lost check.
Not wanting to drive to our bank (1 hour away), I decided to UPS overnight it on Thursday.
Being a good checker-upper, I called the bank yesterday to see if the check had arrived.
The check, is for $2,000, a paycheck.
But no, the check was not there, and my bank balance was dismally low.
Frustrated, we began the UPS tracking process.

According to UPS, the package never left the Mail Boxes Etc. (where I sent it from).
According to the Mailboxes person, the package left on Thurs. evening.
Alas.

Meanwhile, we had to have Brian's work put a Stop Check on the whole debacle.
That will go into effect on Monday.

In the meantime...

No romantic Get Away for us.
* * *
We are rescheduling for next weekend, I guess, or the weekend after...
* * *
And I really am beginning to think the Gods of Vacation have it out for us.
