Top 10 Albums of All Time
I usually don't enter contests, but this one sucked me in.
A radio station nearby was offering a challenge: Choose your top 10 albums of all time and email it to them.
The prize is an ipod with the music loaded on to it.
Our family has been talking about this for weeks...And it's been a spot of much entertainment, so I thought I had to post the albums here.
Here is my list and my note to the station:
I really love your contest, which is engaging and which is dedicated to building community. This question has been enlivening our family discussions for weeks now as we try to balance and figure out how to choose...I've decided to choose based on listenability (how often I listened to the album) and on sheer talent...so I've tried to choose folks without whom the world would be less bright--not only for me but for everyone. I've tried to choose folks whose songs tried to make humanity better, whose social conscious tried to impact us all--
1) Bob Dylan Blood on the Tracks
2) Grateful Dead American Beauty
3) Neil Young Decade
4) Joni Mitchell Blue
5) Ani Difranco Not a Pretty Girl
6) Bob Marley Rastaman Vibration
7) U2--The Unforgettable Fire
8) Billie Holliday Ultimate Collection CD
9) The Indigo Girls--Indigo Girls
10)Nirvana--Nevermind
This was tough--hard to narrow, but I can defend them all...
What are your lists? Post them in Comments...Which albums can't you--or the world--live without?
