Several Things--and Apples
We went apple picking today.
It was great, only when we got there we realized that neither of us had remembered the checkbook or wallet!
This is not typical of us; usually someone has this Detail Covered.
So...luckily the apple place said that we could just pick some apples and drop a check off tomorrow.
This saved one little boy from being crestfallen...
* * *
We picked Fujis, McGowans, Empires, Macintoshes, and Golden Yellows...
Kellen seemed Amused by it all.
We all ate apples and walked in the fall afternoon air...
And it was nearly Perfect.
* * *
Now I'm back to cleaning and laundry and vacuuming and a hundred other tasks...
And wanting to revise my novel amid it all...
Whenever and wherever and however...
* * *
Also we may be moving. More on that later. As part of that energy, we were talking about the Best Places we ever lived. I am listing mine in order:
1) Burlington, VT
2) Jericho, VT
3) Durham, NH
Where were your favorite residences? In Burlington, we had a rented townhouse near downtown, and the light poured in the windows, washing the wooden floors with light...I wrote there for hours on end at a rolltop desk upstairs, in an extra room. We had an entire wall of brick, and I could walk downtown in a jiffy and get a good cup of joe. In Jericho, we had a dirt road and walking trails, a row of pines, and a house on a woodsy cul de sac. And Durham, well, that was just Durham: close to Portsmouth, close to Boston, good college town, good bagels...lots of coffee...good frozen yogurt, good energy...
