The Optical Goods Anniversary
Nothing says love like a new set of glasses.
Thus it is no wonder that Optical Goods are the Gift of Choice for wedding anniversary #48.
Not that we are approaching year #48 mind you. But we're at year 14, which is Pretty Far.
The gift of choice for this year is Ivory, but we blew off that Whole Tradition for Obvious Reasons.

It was not the anniversary day of the movies, filled with roses and langour and chocolate and lots of time Just Being Romantic.
The day started with a roar as we dove headfirst into Getting Everyone Ready to go to Burlington where Brian had meetings all day.
We were going school shopping, so it was hopping and jumping and eating on the run and ferrying Brian to meetings...
Only to find that the main meeting of the day had been canceled...
So we went shopping with a cranky Elementary School child who wanted Everything He Saw, Please, Please, Please? and a baby who decided a long time ago that Shopping is Not Where It's At.

In the middle of an aisle of clothing as Brian and I crabbed at each other about a silly thing, it all just Struck me as Funny.
Absurdity.
Two boys = a whole lotta joy and a serious impingement on the Art of Romance.

Still...Brian surprised me with flowers that were adorning the hood of the car after we finished the shopping spree (Brian just had to walk the baby, wink wink)...
And I bought him a cozy flannel shirt that he's been coveting (well the whole Concept of Warm Fuzzy Things has been Big on His List)--
And some blueberry jam because he Really Wanted a Homemade Blueberry Pie but they were out at the bakery.
And tonight, we'll find some time in between brushing Boy Teeth and Reading Boy Stories and Rocking one sweet little baby into sleep...
And it will be perfect.
Because as crazy as our life can seem, it's pretty much as Near as Perfect as it Comes.
